|Animal ID: 1722Billy (male)|
Meet Billy- Billy is a 12-year old Aussie mix, who was surrendered because his people were losing their home and couldn't take him along. He's on the smaller side, around 34 pounds at his last weighing, but would benefit from gaining 7-ish pounds. Like many seniors, Billy's memory isn't what it once was, and he sometimes forgets what he was supposed to be doing. But, hey, who hasn't forgotten what they were doing in a room in the house at some point? He's like someone's sweet old grandpa in dog form. He likes to potter around, spend a lot of time walking around outside, and take a lot of naps. He may be a bit hard of hearing and vision, but copes well enough that no one is 100% sure about it. He's very gentle, and tries to play with his foster brother sometimes. No one is ever quite sure what the game is, but that's ok! He was used to spending all of his time in an outdoor kennel, so Billy is still learning how to be a pet. However, he has perfect house manners and is housebroken. He's never had an accident in the house. Billy even puts himself to bed in his crate around 8:30 every night, and then stays in til morning once the door is closed. Billy really likes to have a confident dog to take his cues from and show him that he doesn't need to be startled by many things, and that people are okay to be around. His foster brother is an energetic 3-year old Aussie, and Billy likes to stick close to him when he's unsure of himself or a situation. Billy is polite to strangers, and will come over to say hi in his own time. He's still learning to enjoy petting. He is starting to like gentle neck and head scritches, but he's not a fan of full body petting at this time. Billy is fine on a leash, and has been around children and adults of all ages and genders with no issues. However, he would do best in an adult-only home because of his tendency to get startled by loud noises or very fast moving people. His ideal home would also be one where he's living with people who are able to let him acclimate and get used to things in his own time. He does not like to ride in a car without his dog friend with him. Billy is a bit of a special needs dog, due to his age, and some lingering clumsiness in his rear legs from having had a seizure when he was a puppy. He would do best with a large fenced yard to take his walks in, and few to no stairs. He loves to be outside, rain or shine, but needs to be reminded when it's time to come inside and dry off/warm up/cool down, etc. He has trouble keeping weight on, and eats well, but he's more of a continual snacker, so his new home will have to make sure he has some quiet time to himself to eat. (Purely so dog siblings don't help him eat his food - his foster brother is starting to get a little chunky!) http://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application (Less)

Paloma is a 4 year old pure bred Aussie....she is a sweet, smart, loyal, playful , great companion dog to the person or family who has no other dogs. She is a typically energetic Aussie, but her favorite thing in the world is to be by her person's side, watching everything they do and being your best friend. She is fine with both men and women, and would do well in a household with older children. She's crate and obedience trained, spayed, up to date on her vaccines. She loves to play ball and swim. Because she comes from a farm she is used to having lots of freedom to roam, but given regular walks and playtime she would adapt to a smaller yard as long as she has her people around and gets regular exercise. She doesn't have separation anxiety, isn't destructive if left alone, but she is happiest with her people around her. She is currently on an anti anxiety medication which can be tapered off when she is an only dog and not competing for your attention with other dogs. She also has a skin condition called discoid lupus on her nose which is treated with sunscreen and topical medications, usually over the counter. It is not contagious and will not affect any other part of her body. She will be so happy to be be your loyal loving companion! Hi my name is Ranger and I am one good looking 1-1/2 year old male Aussie/Healer mix. I am neutered, up to date on all my immunizations and micro chipped . I know basic commands like sit and shake and I am learning to walk on a leash like a good boy. I am not too fond of cats and I do need to be the only dog. I am great with adults and older kids! Since I am a herding breed I definitely need something to do. You know smart boys like me need to be kept busy. Being a herder I do like to nip at pant legs and ankles from time to time, but I have NEVER bit anyone. I am just a big teddy bear that loves attention and to play ball. I think I would flourish and be happiest on a ranch or in a country setting where I can help and run and play. As a special bonus I am crate trained and potty trained. Hi I'm Rigley, and I think you need me in your life. I mean who wouldn't•À%BD'•À%BD| I'm fun, I like to play, of course I'm cute (but you can see that for yourself), I like other dogs and foster mom says I'm sweet and affectionate.•À%BD%A0 Somebody didn't want me from my prior life and I just don't know why. I moved into my foster mom's house like I'd always lived there. She says I'm full of joy and fun and bring positive energy to the house (whatever that is, I think•À%BD%A0she must do yoga). My foster house has friends for me. There's an older dog who doesn't get around too well, so I play very gently with him. Then there are these puppies, whew they wear me out but we all have a good time! I was at a shelter for a while where I was really lonely. My only friend there was a cat. I'm brushing up on my house manners but I'm house trained and crate trained and am working on waiting to be let out of my crate instead of blasting out like from a cannon! What? I have places to go and people to see, for Pete's sake! Before I got to the shelter I was on my own for a while. Food was hard to find, so even now, I protect it because I'm still afraid I won't have another dinner. Foster mom is convincing me it's ok, but at least at first I'll need to be fed away from any other dogs. Did I mention I love to play? Well I do. And I'm really enthusiastic about it too! Sometimes I play with my mouth (I don't bite down, I just didn't know I shouldn't) so until I learn that, I might be better in a house with older kids. I love people. I've never met a stranger. When we went to the vet yesterday I thought the vet was my long lost friend! OH BOY!! Now for my one little problem. They use big words, 'congenital malformation' but that just means I was born with these really cool legs that turn out in the back, making me look like a ballet dancer. The doctors say someday I will probably have arthritis, but for now, I'm good and I can play fetch and Frisbee with the best of 'em. I take Glucosamine like my foster mom to help my joints and my legs look kind of stiff when I run. You'll find out when you see me from the back when I pass you, slow poke. So what kind of family am I looking for? My ideal family will love to play. I'm not looking to be a 10-mile a day hiker, but walks around town, playing in the back yard, that's my idea of exercise. I enjoy other dogs and like to play with them or rest near them. I'll need my people to remind me of the household rules, not a big deal but hey, I'm a teenager! I promise I'll make you an awesome best friend. Think of all the adventures we can have together.•À%BD%A0 Want to meet me? I'll be accepting adoption applications very soon! Love, Rigley Rigley is a 2 year old aussie mix (maybe mixed with golden retriever, husky, Anatolian?). He weighs 40-45 pounds and is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. |Animal ID: Courtesy PostInkos (male)|
I'm looking for a new home for my 3 year old Aussie Inkos that can provide him the attention and space he needs. I rescued him from a high kill shelter in Mississippi two years ago, and the only info they had was that he came from a hoarding situation and several animals were taken from the home after a neighbor saw someone kicking a dog in the yard. Inkos has shown aggression toward humans and dogs on multiple occasions, in each case unprovoked when FIRST MEETING. After several months of working with an aggression specialist, the best she could do was diagnose him with fear-based aggression aka Stranger Danger. With that said, he's a totally relaxed, friendly, happy dog when he is familiar with the circumstances. He is a total cuddle bug who loves to be a lap dog, running around the backyard, doing agility work, and playing with dogs he knows. I love this dog so much, and have worked so hard over the last couple of years to help him adjust. He lives with a 5 year old female yellow lab who he adores and lets boss him around, and has lots of dog friends who he loves to run around and snuggle with. He is aggressive meeting a new dog, but once the first 10 second have passed, he behaves like best friends. I am looking for someone with experience with Australian Shepherds, time to spend with Ink, and ideally land for him to run around freely. He gets lots of exercise but is rarely allowed totally off-leash due to safety concerns. I'm in no rush to rehome him, as I'm really looking for the right person. I'll definitely want to meet in person before you meet him. If interested, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org (Less)

I love to play all day long and I play super 'ruff' because I am one tough girl. I play with my fellow pups, kiddos of all ages, and I even play with my foster family's cat. My foster mom says I have endless energy, so I will be most successful in a home with an equally active playmate. Otherwise, I will roam and play and chew on anything I find. I think that's why my foster mom calls me a little stinker. I love to learn new tricks. So far, I know sit, lay, come, and how to give a handshake. I would make a great agility dog for someone with experience in working with deaf dogs. My only fear is jumping off of high places, but that's because I cannot see so well. Otherwise, I am fearless! I also follow everyone around, because I love to be around people. I love to give kisses and to cuddle. Because I am still a puppy, I need a home that will understand that I still have potty accidents and still chew on things that lay around. I also like to counter surf, though I am working on that. I walk well on a leash, and I work hard for treats, because I love to eat. I am looking for a home that will understand me and love me for who I am. Because I am deaf, I cannot hear you call me, so I need a home that will be able to supervise me really well, especially outside, because my foster mom says I am super special and she doesn't want to see anything happen to me. I have to re-home my dog. Chelsea is an 8 year old Australian Cattle Dog. She was adopted from the ASPCA in SF when she was a 6 month old pup. She walked right up to me and sat in my lap, and the rest is history. She's very active and smart, easy to train, hallmarks for her breed. We've had a walker take her out every weekday while we're at work, so she's used to getting lots of exercise, with a group of other dogs. Vet visit records are on file and vaccinations are up to date. She is a bit timid at times, and has a weird thing about doors - at first it took some effort to get her through doorways, and even now she won't push a door open with her muzzle like most other dogs do. We figured there may have been something off with her care before she arrived in SF. Other than that, she has pretty normal behavior for her breed. Chelsea has never bitten anyone. She isn't great with kids, (she will back away from them) although she is finally starting to bond with my 3 year old. Besides, she is a great, happy, loving dog. I'll miss my morning wakeups. Hi, I'm Otis. I am a 7 year old Australian Shepherd. I'm a little on the smaller side weighing in at 36 pounds. I've been with my foster mom about a week and she is already so in love with me! I am about 95% house trained and will go into the kennel when asked (although I don't like to be in there forever) I ride well in the truck and hop right on up as soon as the door is open. I am not highly energetic, I really just enjoy laying in bed or on the couch with my foster mom. She says I'm super lazy (for an Aussie anyway). I am on the protective side and have a slight fear of men, but we are working on that! I get along well with most dogs, even my foster mom's reactive Aussie. I feel like I would do best in a home with a single female, or an older couple who are willing to work on my fear issues and help me feel secure. A home with older children who are patient with me can be considered as well. I'm not a fan of cats. I walk well on a leash and I know sit, stay, shake and down. We are working on roll over! Panda is a young beauty under two years old. She has a heart of gold and wants to please. Because of her need for lots of love she would do best in a single dog home or with only one or two others. She is very intelligent and was in the process of learning sign language before she was surrendered. She loves to play tag, hide my toys, and anything involving running. She is a bit of an escape artist and should be watched while out, or confined with a six foot fence. Wanna pure love? She is spayed and totally up to date on her vaccinations. |Animal ID: Courtesy PostEzzie (female)|
Ezzie is a chocolate lab/Australian Shepherd mix. She is five years old. She is spayed. She is kennel and house trained. She knows the words 'sit', 'lay down', 'back up', 'outside', and 'eat'. She LOVES to play with a laser pointer, but she doesn't really care much for fetching or playing with any other toy. She does not do well with cats, at least from what I have seen, as she tries to chase the stray cats in the neighborhood. She also doesn't do well with chickens and she had killed a chicken before. She does well in a fenced back yard or on a boundary collar as she loves to roam. She is also a great escape artist. So the fence needs to be secured. She does listen to come when called if she isn't distracted. She loves meeting new people, but she also likes to be by herself. She likes to just lay around and sleep. She also likes to go to the dog park and will play with other dogs, but it takes her a minute to get acclimated and used to the other dogs there. I think she would be fine in a multiple dog household, but her food cannot be left out as she will eat everything in sight. She will also try to eat other dogs' food if it's left out. In order to watch her weight, her food needs to be monitored. She loves to go on walks and she loves to be in the car. She is an inside dog and I would want her to go to a home where she can be inside as well. She will be up to date on shots as of Friday, April 20, 2018. She does shed. She is roughly 45 pounds. I will know exactly when I take her to the vet Friday. Any other questions, text or call my cell 270-752-0366. (Less)

Reaya is a blonde lab/Australian Shepherd mix. She is five years old. She is spayed. She is kennel and house trained. She knows the words 'sit', 'lay down', 'back up', 'outside', and 'eat'. She likes to play with a laser pointer, but she doesn't really care much for fetching or playing with any other toy. She mostly just likes to be pet constantly and she loves attention. She loves children. She does not do well with cats, at least from what I have seen, as she tried to chase the stray cats in the neighborhood. She hasn't actually been around a cat in the house or close proximity. She does well in a fenced back yard or on a boundary collar as she loves to roam. She does listen to come when called if she isn't distracted. She is very loyal to her family, but she loves meeting new people as well. She doesn't necessarily like other dogs. If she and Ezzie are not adopted together, I would recommend her going to a one dog household. She does have some resource guarding against other dogs, but not towards people. She was the runt and I think it was hard for her to find food, so she gets nervous if other dogs are around her food. She will not really hurt them, but she will growl and snap at another dog if they are near her food. So, she would probably need an experienced owner who will be mindful of this behavior. She loves to go on walks and she loves to be in the car. She loves to be by her owners, so she won't be comfortable sleeping outside. She is an inside dog and I would want her to go to a home where she can be inside as well. She will be up to date on shots as of Friday, April 20, 2018. She does shed. She is roughly 45 pounds. |Animal ID: 1785Kade (male)|
Kade is an almost two year old Black Tri Aussie with a beautiful tail with a white tip. He is a very happy and playful boy. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines and will have a microchip. Kade knows some basic commands and tries really hard to please. He still has the puppy excitement when he sees his person so wants to give hugs in the most playful way. We are working hard on not jumping on people and he's starting to get the idea that sit gets him lots of love and treats. He probably would be most successful in a home without small children but teenagers should be fine. At first he loved his crate as he saw that as his safe place but now he prefers not to use it and just hang out in the house. He does really well uncrated in a room and doesn't chew or get into things. He will need continued experience going into a crate on command with feedings and treats in crate so he knows it's a great place when you ask. Kade is house trained. He needs a slower introduction to a new dog but once he's met them and is assured by his person all is well he's ready to go and play. His favorite toy is a deflated basket ball, so get ready to play ball. He has done well with the cats he has met. He can walk on a leash but still needs to learn to stay a little closer to his person so lots of walk stop treat and walk again is helping him to learn. A fenced yard with a tall fence will be necessary as he has jumped the four foot baby gate in the house so we don't want him jumping over outside if he's looking for his person. Kade would need his adopter to come meet him and take him home as past transport between foster homes was stressful for him and we'd like him to be comfortable with his new person and have a successful transition to his new family. |Animal ID: 1782 & 1783Ela & Ani (female)|
Meet Ela and Ani, they are Aussie mixes, 8 years young and bonded sisters/littermates, whose owner sadly had to give them up because of terminal illness. These ladies are shy at first, but once they open up to you are playful, goofy, well mannered, sweet+cuddly. They are quite active for their age and will run, play and chase each other through the yard, plus they both LOVE running in the sand and surf at the beach! (They grew up on acreage and would probably like to go hiking too!) Ela is the ringleader, shes a bit more headstrong, Ani typically follows her lead and they do many things in nearly perfect unison. Both have shown an interest in chasing balls and frisbees, but don't always bring them back and they are both terrible at actually catching anything. :-) (But they try very hard to catch them!) Ela likes to play with, then bring you stuffed toys as gifts and will sometimes walk around the house carrying one. At bedtime they happily curl up on their large dog bed They are good on leash and have gotten along well with our dog and been good around people, kids and large dogs in social settings.(no small dogs) They have barked/lunged at a couple cats during walks, so a cat free household may be best. During the day, they need to go out to potty every 3-4 hours and they are good staying inside overnight. They also got a full vet exam and booster shots as needed within the last month. They'll likely do best in a household where someone is home often, as they enjoy your company and do need to go out more frequently then some dogs. If you are open to adopting a couple sweet dogs, who would love to have a furever home, please contact us. They are currently being fostered in Edmonds, WA If you are interested in making us part of your family, please fill out the application:http://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts. Zappa is a 2 year old Blue Merle Standard Aussie. He came to ASF after losing his person which caused some trust issues. Hi! I'm a mixed breed puppy and am almost 4 months old. Australian Shepherds Furever named me Jacalyn, but I respond to 'Dottie' now. My human foster brother thought Dottie was a more appropriate name for my emerging small black spots. My sister and I were turned into a shelter after an adult dog bit us. My puncture wounds were so bad my foster mom thought they might lose me. Then as I was almost all healed, I got really sick. I am all better now and looking for my furever home. When my foster people aren't with me I play with my sister and foster dog family. I am adventurous, curious, and not afraid to tell you what I'm thinking. My foster dad said it took me a couple of days to warm up to my foster brother but I did and now I'm part of the pack. I have gone to dog parks with my foster dad with no issues. I am on the side of being lazy and like to lay around and relax but do get my butt to wiggle when my person comes home. I don't need a crate because I have no need to bother anything. I am at 56 lbs but could stand to loose a little weight. My foster dad says I'm a good girl. I am fully vetted, spayed and heartworm negative. I am looking for that special family that will love me forever! I'm good with kids of all ages and love the kids I've met with my foster dad. I haven't been around many cats so would probably need to meet one to decide if I could live with one. |Animal ID: 1724Harley (male)|
Hello! My name is Charlie (fka Harley) - my foster mom changed my name, she thinks Charlie fits me better because it's more CHEERful. I'm a loving, highly intelligent Australian Shepherd blend in search of my dream-come-true-family/companions. I love the outdoors, I learn quickly and want to please, and loved to be loved. My foster mom tells me all the time - I'm a SMART boy - and I'm so glad she sees that in me. I once lived with a family whom I miss as I was part of the family for 7 years (since I was 12 weeks old). But, for whatever reason I was subjected to being mistreated by their 3-year old toddler and I nipped him and his mom. My foster mom believes I had to have been seriously provoked because I have never once tried to bite her. She is very sweet to me and would never hurt me. I had a best friend in a 14 year old Labrador Retriever, but he passed on and I was very lonely after that. I have 3 foster bros where I am staying now; however, one is a bit like the 'school yard bully' toward me, so we are kept separate. My foster mom says I shouldn't worry about him, he's just jealous of my good looks. The other two are OK. I have learned many commands over the years such as sit, stay, come, shake, and leave-it. We are currently working on 'Stay Here' where my foster mom will ask me to sit by the window at the very front of the house and I'll do just that as she runs to the most distant corner on the other end of the house. Once she calls my name I look around and find her. I suppose it's like Hide and Seek - but the funnest part are the treats! Didn't really get so many treats before - it's great!! I love riding in the car with the window open, long walks on a windy day, visiting the nice flower people at the lawn and garden store, going to Petco and looking through all the toys, and Oh - how I love to have my hair brushed! It makes me feel more like a person. My foster mom tells me we are all on a journey and that the right family/person will come along one day- but it can't be just anyone. She says they will have to be as special as me - the more active and outdoors-y the better. I know in my heart it's going to work out - everything good takes time, though! If you think that I sound like the perfect fit for your family, please fill out the application: http://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application My adoption fee is $295 and all fees are used to rescue more dogs like me. |Animal ID: 1337Pookie (male)|
Pookie is a beautiful, energetic & sweet boy! He's 5 years old, UTD on shots & neutered. He's house-trained & crate-trained (but wants to be with you if you're home). Pookie's past is unknown but it was not good. His teeth are all worn down, so we think he came from a place that chained him outside or kept him caged & this is the result of him trying to gnaw his way out. When we got Pookie, he was HW+, defensive, & untrusting, but a lot has changed. He's now full of love and energy and trusts us completely & went through a 2-month heartworm treatment. We're still working on some of his manners, but he's so smart & will continue to learn quickly! Pookie is much better with resource guarding (food, water, rawhides) since we first brought him home. After a lot of trust-building, he now listens when we tell him to 'leave it.' He's a very 'family unit' type of dog. He's very loving and trusting of us, but has stranger danger. Strangers are introduced in the house while he is crated, then we just leave him alone as he watches us interact with them over time. We don't know how he is with kids, so we don't think he should go to a family with little ones. He's very food motivated, so that will help with trust. We're still socializing him with other dogs he meets. He loves to play with our little dog but is guarded around new dogs. Pookie would do well in a family without another dog, or with a dog that is passive. This will take patience on the adopter's end- it took about 2 months before Pookie wanted anything to do with our dog, but now they are best friends! He loves to go outside. We don't have a fenced-in yard so we take him walking/jogging every day to get his energy out. He absolutely has a herding instinct, as he always wants to chase rabbits, squirrels, birds & cars which we are working on. Pookie would do best in a home in a quiet area. Because we don't know how he does off-leash in an open area, we prefer his future home to have a large, fenced-in yard. He has LOADS of energy! His absolutely favorite thing in the world is to be brushed. Pookie's furever home should be patient with him, as he will take a while to open up and trust. Once he does, you will find a loving dog that just wants to love & cuddle! Tamzin is a very sweet energetic Aussie mix that absolutely loves people and she is in search of her forever home. Since bringing Tamzin into our home we have really watched her come out of her shell. She has gone from a dog that would cower and shake at even the slightest sudden sound to a sweet energetic dog that loves to play and absolutely adores her people. In fact one of her favourite things now is to give hugs. Tamzin is shy when she first meets someone but once she gets to know you she is the true definition of a velcro dog. The only thing that we haven't been able to work her through is her fear of other dog's. Unfortunately we don't know what her past was like or what could have happened to her to give her this fear but as a result of it Tamzin's future home will have to be one without other dog's and no cats.
