Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bowdie's tough-looking exterior hides the heart of a serial snuggler. He is a friendly, happy Border Collie/Aussie mix with a big personality and would do best with a strong/experienced human. He is crate trained, house trained, and has learned several basic commands in a short amount of time. His leash skills are improving daily. While the finer points of fetch have thus far escaped him, we think he would excel at agility work. He would also be a great hiking buddy or running partner. Fireworks and thunder don't seem to phase him. However, the jury is still out on the vacuum cleaner. Bowdie is a Velcro dog who just wants to be with his ... (Read More)person. We have not tested him with kids or cats. This big, beautiful boy is approximately 18 months old and weighs about 42 lbs. He is neutered, HW negative, fully vetted, somewhat submissive. Animal ID: 807Doodle (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Please allow me too introduce myself, my name is Doodle and I'm just as cute as my name would indicate. I am an Australian Shepherd Mix, about 3 years old, and originally from Corpus Christi, Tx. I was living on the streets there so nobody really knows much about my past. But, I ended up in an animal shelter and that's where the wonderful people of Australian Shepherds Furever found me and decided to help me out. They found me some friends to stay with and made sure I got the medical care I needed. I was in pretty rough shape from living on the streets, but have recovered quickly. So, a little about me. When I first came to stay with my ... (Read More)friends I was very shy around people. When a person came near me I would roll on my back. But, now that I am comfortable with my friends I can't keep my tail from wagging when I see them and love when they give me affection. Most of the time I enjoy just laying around and like to follow my friends around the house. There are two other dogs where I am staying; one is a little more dominant and the other is very passive like me, but I get along very well with them both. When I first came to stay with my friends they kept me in a crate at night and when they left the house. I did fine in the crate but I wasn't happy staying in there at night. Eventually, I earned the trust of my friends and they started letting me sleep on a small bed in their room. I really like being around human friends all the time. And, they've even started letting me stay free range when they leave the house. Every time I've proven they were right to trust me; I've have zero accidents inside and haven't chewed on anything that I should not. All in all, I would say I'd do best with a family that likes me being around them as much as possible. If you already have other dogs that is fine too. I don't do much with the other dogs I currently live with, but that's only because I never really learned to play and have fun when I was younger. But, don't worry, I am learning slowly. I've heard about tiny humans but haven't had a chance to interact with them. My friends think I would do well with them if they are a little bit older and understand that I can be very shy. I move very slowly in the house and I never jump on people so if they can treat my like a friend and not a toy I think I would like that; it just means more people to be with. I have been exposed to two small animals called ferrets. I find them very interesting. My friends think that if you already have a small animal like a ferret or cat I would just need to be monitored until I got to know them and understand what they are. So, that's me, Doodle. I know there is a perfect family, for me, out there and hope they are reading this right now. If I sound like someone that would fit into your family I can't wait to meet you. Because, all I want is to have a family of my own. Thanks for reading about me! From Doodle's Foster Mom: This beautiful boy is healing well from his FHO (femoral head ostectomy) surgery and would love a furever home. He is about 3 years old, good with other dogs and loves older children. UTD on vaccines and neutered. Does more laying around but is walking well. He picks the leg up when running but will slowly start using it. Dr. Rasberry says he's looking good with nice progress. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi my name is Gypsy girl! I'm a gorgeous 5-6 y/o black tri mini Aussie weighing in at 40lbs. For most of my life I lived outside because I was used for breeding. I am a sweet laid back girl and I get along great with dogs and kids that are laid back, otherwise I get anxious. For the most part I prefer to play with humans or just hang out with you. Since I am a diamond in the ruff (living inside a home is new to me), I will need an owner who will be patient, continue to provide structure, reinforce housetraining, and teach me basic obedience. I would do best in a laid back home where I am not alone all day since I don't like to be confined in ... (Read More)a crate. A fenced yard is a must! Since I came into rescue at 50# I will need someone who will help me reach my ideal weight of 30#. I am fully vetted, heartworm negative and on flea/tick/HW prevention.     Hamish is a young (2 year old?) gentle giant. He is an 'American Leopard Hound' /Aussie mix. A wonderful combination of Aussie smart and Hound Mellow. He is very smart and mastered 'sit' in less than a week. We are still working on other commands. He is still a young dog and needs consistency and positive reinforcement. He walks well on the leash but does have an interest in squirrels. He will lose interest with a gentle tug at his collar. He is housebroken, good with house rabbits, cats and any critter he sees is part of the pack. He loves children, other dogs and everyone he meets. He is sensitive, gentle and very mellow. Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind, Deaf

Hello everyone, my name is Mr. Magoo, although my foster dad thought of calling me Piglett from Winnie The Pooh because everyone likes my big ears. I am a four month old male Australian Shepherd and UTD with puppy shots. My siblings' and I were found hovering over our mother along the side of a road. We tried to wake her up so we could eat and get off the road but she just would not get up because she had crossed the rainbow bridge. We were very sad, hungry and frighten when some nice people stopped and helped us. We were cleaned, fed, and given a warm place to stay while we waited to go the PNW. I am now with my foster family in Washington ... (Read More)State and am looking for that special family. Out of the five siblings, I am the only one that doesn't have a furever home. I think it's because I am partially blind and have some hearing loss, but my faster dad says it's because he wanted to wait until after Christmas before we have any meet and greets. I love to play with my foster sister and will follow my foster brothers around, although they don't like it. I really get along with the cat and leave him alone. I love to be held and sleep on my foster family's laps when I'm not playing with them. I love to sleep on the foster's bed at night when I'm not sleeping in the toy box. I would like to go to a family that likes puppies and maybe has another dog that likes to play. I have not been tested with children but don't think it would be a problem. My foster dad would like to see me go to a family that has, or is willing to work with, a dog that has a visual and hearing impairment. Animal ID: 1059Raine (female)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My name is Raine! I may look big, but I'm only about forty pounds. I'm about a year and a half old, and within that short time frame, I've had a pretty hard life. When I was younger, my previous owners did not treat me great, and they would let their other dogs treat me just as mean. I don't understandČ'Ř| I just want to love, play, and be around my family. Because of this, I'm awfully skittish of the world around me; I tend to be afraid to step out and meet people and other dogsČ'Ř| I also tend to be protective of my food because I used to have to fight the big dogs at my old house just to eat. When I was taken out of that situation ... (Read More)and placed with my foster family, I started out being scared because the people who were going to care for me also had dogs. As time went by, and with love and care from this family, I have opened up a lot more. Instead of being afraid to go outside or be social, I now love my foster dog-sister and like to go outside (and sometimes I just don't want to come in) My foster mom has given me chances to learn and do new things. I found out I love going on car rides, and if you put me in the front seat, I'll either sit there and keep you company or I'll just fall asleep, both without any fear of being in the car. I have found that walks are pretty nice, though there are moments that scare me, such as cars passing by; but with some gentle coaxing, I'll continue with the walk. I also love to play games such as chase and tug of war. I'm pretty cooperative when it comes to baths, but getting a brush-down is where it's at. I can sit for a very long time and enjoy that. I don't really care too much to go to the vet, mainly because of new people and animals, but give me some time and I'll cooperate. I'm pretty housebroken, and I've been spayed. I also know how to sit when you tell me to. I don't really know any other tricks or commands, but I'm willing to learn from someone caring and patient. I am playful, energetic, and full of love. With love and support from a caring and patient family, I would love to share my caring, sweet nature and learn new things. Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Victoria is a beautiful Aussie Husky mix with stunning blue eyes. She is a gorgeous older gal (the vet believes around 10 years) who is looking for a perfect retirement home. Victoria has come a long way learning how to trust people. She will still bark at new people who come into the house but does well giving space. She is very slow to warm up to people and so will need an owner who is dog savvy and can give her the time and space that she needs. She bonds much more quickly with men as her previous owner was an older man but given time she will bond with any adult who has patience with her. She would prefer a home that is quiet and without ... (Read More)children. Once she has learned to trust you though she is very loving and wants nothing more than to be able to sit with you and get scratches and loving. She does well with other dogs that are not super energetic and doesn't seem to mind cats, chickens or other poultry. As long as they are mellow and don't jump on her or get too rough she is okay with that. Victoria does have a small cyst on her bottom and some hip and vision problems, but now that she has gotten settled neither seem to bother her very much. With regular supplements she is able to get around fine and will even play. She absolutely loves squeaky toys of any kind and loves to throw them over her head and chase them around. Victoria could be the perfect dog for someone who would love a companion but doesn't really want to be super active.     Angi is ready for adoption and her forever family. She is a Double Merle Australian Shepherd, 38 lbs and about 5 years old. She is a special dog and will need a special family. She is both blind and deaf and was likely used in a puppy mill for a number of years. She is completely sweet and submissive She likes being petted even more than treats. She will walk on a leash/harness a little and is mostly house trained. As long as you make sure she goes out 4 times a day and keep her on a regular feeding and potty schedule she does not have accidents. She doesn't have accidents in her crate and will whine when she wants to go out. The first day ... (Read More)we got her she found her way from the yard to the front door. It took about a week for her to find her food dish. Now she can navigate the yard and find both doors. She can go up stairs, but down only 2 or 3. She will go out on her own if I leave the door open, so she probably could be trained to a pet door-but it would take time. She walks slowly, so is not hard to keep up with. It will also take more time for her to trust and then start to follow you. She is probably not good with cats. Australian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Chester ( long- haired) and Remington (short hair) These two brothers are approximately 2 years old, both dogs are neutered. They have never spent a day apart so looking for a home that will take both. At the moment these boys are penned up and really need room to run. A farm would be ideal or a large fenced (secure) yard as they require a good amount of exercise. They have not spent a huge amount of time with kids but the times they have, they did great! Super friendly and smart. They have never been around livestock or chickens, so I'm not sure how they would do. These dogs are being transported to the PNW from Texas and there will ... (Read More)be an additional $160 transport fee for each dog. Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Jinks is a bigger boy at around 60lbs, but is a real sweetheart. He is very well mannered, listens well, is good on a leash. Jinks is good with other dogs smaller and larger. He loves people and attention and is good with children but since he is large he would probably do best with children who are over the age of 5 since he might get excited when he is trying to get them to play. He does like his chews and just likes to hang out with his person. Jinks is 3 years old, up to date on all his vaccines and taking heart worm and flea preventatives. He is ready for his furever home - are you ready to be his special someone? If you are ...     My name is Devin. I lived with my people for 4 years, but after all that time they decided I did not like kids that much and took me to a shelter. That was hard for me. A wonderful lady who works there reached out to another lady who contacted AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERDS FUREVER and they got me out of there in less than 24 hours. I am fully vetted. Neutered, shots, hw negative and on prevention. I am also microchipped. I ride very nicely in a car and love to go places. I am medium to low energy. I like most dogs and have lived with cats. I am crate and potty trained and have also been to obedience school. I am allergic to fleas. I like a quiet ... (Read More)house. I get nervous if there is a lot going on. Border Collie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Backstory: Happy and his life long companion, a Beagle, both seniors were dumped at a shelter in LA county by their owners. A rescue came and took the Beagle, leaving Happy behind. We were told of this story and rescued him. Happy has been in foster care for 3 months and he still has moments where he looks very sad, still missing his best friend. Happy is great with humans and other dogs. he is NOT good with cats or small farm animals. Happy is a very affectionate and loving boy............unless you tell him to do something. He was apparently the alpha in his last home and took orders from nobody. His current foster has made ... (Read More)progress with him but feels somebody more assertive would be the best thing for him. We do have a trainer avaiable by phone to help with this issue, which is very fixable with a confident human alpha. When we first got Happy, he was so filthy and matted that he had to be shaved down but his coat has since grown out beautifully. He is a senior boy that deserves a warm bed and a loving home to spend his golden years. If you are interested in this boy, please fill out our adoption application: http://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application Happy's adoption fee is 150 and all fees are used for future rescue efforts.     General is the sweetest guy. He just like hanging with ya and getting the lovin' he deserves and giving it back two fold. General is about 6, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, micro chipped, on heartworm prevention and just the best guy anyone could want. He is not in to agility, might go walking with ya but not running but can sure sit with ya at the computer or in a swing, or just hang with ya. He likes cats, other dogs and his favorite is his human. He has never been around little kids and probably would do better in a home without young ones, but he would make a great companion for a person looking for a buddy to hang with or a ...
